Storyline: Dozens of Yemeni families are grappling with the profound loss and devastating grief after Israeli airstrikes on the Yemeni capital, Sanaa, killed 32 staff members of local media outlets on September 10. The strikes destroyed the offices of two newspapers -- 26th September and Al-Yemen -- in Tahrir Square in central Sanaa, and claimed 47 lives, among them 32 media workers. Abdullah Al-Bahri, a veteran journalist who oversaw radio and television monitoring at the Sana'a-based Saba News Agency, was one of them. His family is now struggling with profound loss, with his son unable to accept that his father left for work that morning and never returned. "I used to go with my dad to the news agency, to the market, everywhere. He bought me everything," said Bara'a Al-Bahri, son of Abdullah Al-Bahri. For two years, Abdullah Al-Bahri had reported on Israel's military operations in Gaza, exposing Israeli crimes in the Gaza Strip backed by the U.S. As the confrontation between Israel and Yemen's Houthi group escalated, Israel's attacks on civilian infrastructure raised his family's fears for his safety. "We lived in constant fear for him - his wife, his children, all of us. But he never shied away from his duty. He believed that doing his job well was paramount, saying even if it costs him his life, he would have no regrets," said Mahdi Al-Bahri, father of the veteran journalist. "To help provide for his family, he also did part-time jobs with two friends. Just a few days before he was killed, his friends asked him to change a shift to earn extra money. But he said, 'No, I can't. I have my main job responsibilities on Wednesday; I must be there.' Before he left that day, he asked his wife for his ID and phone. Then he never came home," the father recalled with grief. The Houthis, who control much of northwestern Yemen, have launched attacks at Israel since the war in Gaza broke out in October 2023. Israel, in response, has conducted retaliatory strikes on Houthi-held areas. The Houthis say their attacks aim to show solidarity with Palestinians, demanding an end to the war and blockade in Gaza.
