Authorities said one motorist was briefly trapped and multiple vehicles were stranded, but no injuries were reported. Families were forced to shelter in place as crews worked through the night to clear blocked roads in Oak Glen and Forest Falls. Emergency teams from the San Bernardino County Fire Protection District, CAL FIRE and partner agencies remained on round-the-clock duty, focusing on restoring safe access to communities. Highway 38 reopened overnight after Caltrans crews cleared debris, allowing stranded motorists to leave the area. Damage assessment teams are surveying homes and infrastructure to determine the scale of property loss. Officials warned that conditions remain hazardous, with the risk of fresh slides, falling trees and impassable roads. The National Weather Service forecast a chance of thunderstorms across the county’s mountains and deserts, raising concerns about additional flooding. Residents were urged to stay away from affected zones and follow official flood advisories. Writing by Berkay Gur
