On the afternoon of September 26, on the Erdaoba Bridge along the Hukun Expressway in Guiding County, Qiannan Prefecture, Guizhou, a large truck failed to brake in time in a congested section, rear-ending vehicles ahead and triggering a five-car pileup. One car was hit and thrown off the road, plunging more than 10 metres off the bridge.

Video footage shows the truck slamming directly into a white sedan stopped ahead, sending it airborne before it fell off the expressway. Several other vehicles caught in the middle were also badly damaged in the chain collision.

The accident left one person dead and one injured. The injured passenger was rushed to Guiding County People’s Hospital and is not in life-threatening condition.

Authorities are still investigating the incident.
