Queerceañera 2025: 'Mariposas Sin Fronteras' in Los Angeles, California.
The Queerceañera (Queerce for short) is an annual celebration of queer Latine culture hosted by the Los Angeles LGBT Center in Hollywood during Latinx Heritage Month. The event reimagines the traditional quinceañera as an accessible, inclusive, and gender-affirming community cotillion. It honors queer Latine community leaders and artists, features drag performances, DJ sets, traditional Latinx foods and drinks, community resource tabling, and provides legal resources for immigrant community members.
Purpose: To celebrate and uplift the diverse experiences of the queer and Latinx community in Los Angeles, offering an accessible alternative to traditional quinceañeras.
Honorees: The event recognizes and celebrates influential queer Latine individuals. For instance, the 2025 event honored drag artist Lushious Massacr and nightlife community leader Oliver Alpuche.
Theme: Each year features a theme that speaks to the community's experiences. For 2025, the theme was "Mariposas Sin Fronteras" (Butterflies Without Borders), focusing on themes of migration, fortitude, and queer and trans joy.
