Storyline: Zhanjiang City in south China's Guangdong Province initiated comprehensive preparatory measures against Typhoon Matmo, the 21st named storm of the 2025 Pacific typhoon season, to safeguard its residents and infrastructure ahead of its landfall on the eastern coast of Xuwen County at approximately 14:50 local time on Sunday. As of 10:00 Sunday, over 116,000 residents were evacuated across the city, and all the city's more than 27,000 fishing vessels were recalled to port, and a total of 1,245 shelters to accommodate were opened for displaced people. Industrial camera footage from the Datang Leizhou Power Plant's coal unloading terminal in Leizhou City, Zhanjiang, captured the severity of the storm. At 12:30, the plant was engulfed by ferocious wind, of which the maximum speeds reached over 117 kilometers per hour. The footage shows towering waves crashing against the shore, trees swaying violently, and visibility plunged by strong winds and heavy downpours. Workers on duty reported hearing the fierce wind and rain pounding against the factory buildings. Over 530 construction workers involved in unit maintenance were safely relocated, and more than 150 offshore personnel were evacuated with help of the industrial coal unloading terminal. Drainage systems and environmental facilities were thoroughly checked, alongside continuous monitoring of generator unit operating parameters. The generator units maintained stable operation throughout the typhoon, ensuring an uninterrupted power supply to the grid. Shotlist: Zhanjiang City, Guangdong Province, south China - Oct 5, 2025: 1.
