China: Recovery efforts underway in Guangxi's Fangchenggang as Typhoon Matmo weakens

Storyline: Local authorities in Fangzhougang City cleared toppled trees and restored traffic on Monday as Typhoon Matmo weakened over the southern Chinese city, allowing public services and businesses to gradually reopen. Matmo landed in Fangchenggang in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region at 01:10 local time on Monday. As the typhoon's impact subsided, fallen trees were cut into sections and moved to safe areas by municipal and fire rescue teams. Key routes in the city have resumed traffic. The city's flood control and drought relief headquarters announced a phased lifting of emergency measures starting 08:00 Monday. Cultural and leisure venues, shopping malls, public transport, and long-distance bus services have resumed operation. Ferry services restarted at noon, while industrial enterprises, off-campus training institutions, and public parks have also returned to normal operation.
