VARIOUS OF MASSIVE SMOKE RISING FROM BOMBED AREA GAZA STRIP, PALESTINE (OCTOBER 7: Israeli warplanes conducted a series of airstrikes on the western part of the Gaza Strip on Tuesday, Oct. 7, resulting in multiple casualties, according to medical sources and witnesses. The attacks, which also involved ground-based artillery, began in the morning and were concentrated along the western border of the enclave. The Israeli military stated it launched "massive, simultaneous air and ground attacks" in the area. Anadolu Agency cameras operating from the "Kfar Gaza" area, west of the strip, documented several large explosions, followed by dense plumes of smoke rising from various locations inside Gaza. Medical officials in Gaza confirmed that at least seven people were killed and several others were injured in the fresh Israeli strikes. The military escalation coincides with the second anniversary of the ongoing conflict and comes as indirect negotiations between Hamas and Israel continue in Egypt. These talks, mediated by Egyptian officials, aim to secure a prisoner exchange and a ceasefire, based on a proposal unveiled by former US President Donald Trump in September. Trump's 20-point peace plan, revealed on Sept. 29, includes provisions for the release of all Israeli captives in exchange for Palestinian prisoners, a ceasefire, the disarmament of the Hamas group, and a comprehensive reconstruction plan for Gaza. The conflict, which escalated dramatically in October 2023, has had a devastating impact on the Palestinian population. According to Palestinian health authorities, the Israeli military offensive has killed over 67,100 Palestinians in Gaza, with the majority being women and children.
