Phoenix, United States - October 11, 2025 10/10/2025 11:50 pm GMT-0700 PHOENIX, Ariz. – According to Phoenix Police Department's Duty Commander Matthew Siekmann, officers responded to reports of a shooting at an apartment complex located near the 5800 block of South 32nd Street. Officers arrived at the scene and located an adult male with gunshot wounds. The male was transported to a local trauma center with serious injuries. Upon further investigation, officers learned that an adult female was inside her apartment unit with her children when the male, identified as her ex-boyfriend, arrived and began banging on her door. The situation escalated when the male kicked in the door. The adult female then produced a handgun and shot the male. The female provided a statement of self-defense and is cooperating with investigators. The woman and her children were not injured. Phoenix PD detectives were notified and are assuming command of the investigation.
