Phoenix, United States - June 16, 2025 06/16/2025 02:45 am GMT-0700 PHOENIX, Ariz. – According to preliminary information gathered at the scene, Phoenix police officers attempted to stop the driver of a Lincoln Navigator near the South Mountain Loop 202 and Dobbins Road. The initial reason for the traffic stop is unknown at this time. As officers attempted to stop the suspect, he tried to ram one of the patrol cars repeatedly. Phoenix police initiated a pursuit as the suspect began to flee. Phoenix police pursued the suspect around the Laveen area. Eventually, the suspect entered onto the South Mountain Loop 202 the wrong way, driving southbound in the northbound lanes. DPS troopers and the Phoenix Police helicopter were notified and responded to the area to assist. The suspect drove the wrong way for over a mile before self-correcting. The driver repeatedly entered and exited the L-202 both in the correct direction and the wrong way. Eventually, the driver entered onto the Loop 202 and continued southbound in the northbound lanes. The car was eventually stopped on the Loop 202 just West of 17th Avenue. Troopers and officers surrounded the car and issued commands to the driver to exit the vehicle. The driver was taken into custody.
