The two leaders discussed the recent AZAL plane crash along with bilateral relations, focusing on trade, economic, and humanitarian cooperation, the Kremlin press office said.
Putin arrived in Dushanbe late Wednesday on a three-day visit, where he is scheduled to participate in the second Russia-Central Asia summit later Thursday and the Heads of State Council meeting of the Commonwealth of Independent States on Friday.
Following talks in a narrow format, the two leaders held an expanded meeting involving their respective delegations, after which they signed a joint statement on deepening the strategic partnership and alliance between their countries.
A package of interstate, intergovernmental, and interdepartmental documents was also inked during a corresponding signing ceremony held after the talks.
