Los Angeles, United States - October 14, 2025 10/14/2025 07:00 am GMT-0700 BURBANK, Calif. – Drivers in Burbank took to the roads Tuesday morning amid a major storm that was unleashing torrential rain in the area. Over 2 inches of rain have already been recorded locally, with rainfall currently measured at 0.90 inches per hour. The National Weather Service issued a Flood Watch targeting regions near recent burn scars across San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, Ventura, and Los Angeles counties. Affected burn scars include Gifford, Madre, Lake, Apache, Mountain, Post, King, Canyon, Hughes, Hurst, Kenneth, Franklin, Palisades, Sunset, Lidia, Hawk, Eaton, and Bridge. The Flood Watch is in effect through Tuesday afternoon. The service warns that brief periods of heavy rainfall over these burn scars could trigger hazardous and damaging flooding, as well as debris flows. Additionally, flooding may occur in areas with poor drainage and urban locations, particularly where low-water crossings could become submerged. Peak rainfall rates are expected to range from 0.25 to 0.50 inches per hour, with some areas possibly experiencing rates as high as 0.80 inches per hour. There is also a 10 percent chance of encountering rainfall rates of 1 inch per hour due to thunderstorms or heavy showers. The threat of thunderstorms may further amplify rainfall rates, potentially surpassing debris flow thresholds in burn scar regions.
