Sean 'Diddy' Combs to appeal conviction and prison sentence. According to TMZ, The news comes courtesy of a notice filed on Monday in the Federal District Court of New York. The notice lists Alexandra Shapiro as Combs' lawyer, and his team are likely to file their substantive brief for the appeal within four to six weeks. The filing on Monday does not explain the grounds on which Combs will base his appeal but his lawyers have previously argued the conviction should not stand because the statute, transportation for the purposes of prostitution, does not apply. The music mogul was convicted on two counts of prostitution-related charges after an eight-week trial in July. The jury acquitted Combs of the sex trafficking and racketeering charges he faced. He was sentenced on 3 October by Judge Arun Subramanian to serve a little over four years in a federal prison. Combs has not yet been assigned to a prison and remains at a Brooklyn Detention Centre. Judge Subramanian expressed that the Bad Boy Records founder should serve his time as close as possible to the New York City metropolitan area. Combs’ lawyers asked the court to recommend to the Bureau of Prisons that he be sent to the low-security federal correctional institution FCI Fort Dix, in New Jersey.
