Oman: Türkiye and Oman sign agreements on defense, trade and technology

VARIOUS OF AGREEMENTS BEING SIGNED BETWEEN TWO COUNTRIES MUSCAT, OMAN - OCT. 23, 2025: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan met on Thursday with Omani Sultan Haitham bin Tariq in Muscat, where they attended a signing ceremony for new agreements aimed at enhancing strategic cooperation in key areas, including trade, energy, and the defense industry. The meeting was held at Al Alam Palace in the Omani capital behind closed doors, according to Turkish diplomatic sources. Following their one-on-one talks, Erdogan and Haitham co-chaired a meeting between their delegations and attended a signing ceremony for several bilateral agreements. The two leaders discussed bilateral relations, as well as regional and global issues, during the meeting, a statement by the Turkish Communications Directorate said. “Stating that Türkiye and Oman share deep-rooted historical and fraternal ties, President Erdogan noted that this visit further reinforced the solidarity between the two countries,” the statement noted. Erdogan also "stressed that cooperation with Oman will be enhanced in many fields, ranging from industry and economy to defense and communications,” it added. “Emphasizing that Türkiye and Oman share similar positions on many issues, particularly the Palestinian cause, President Erdogan expressed our appreciation for Oman’s efforts in its region based on mediation and dialogue, and also added that joint efforts will be made for a two-state solution in Gaza,” the statement also said. - Dozens of new agreements signed Omani Foreign Minister Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan signed joint statements on the "Establishment of a Coordination Council" and “Joint Statement on Visa Exemption for Ordinary Passport Holders.” Several memoranda of understanding on cooperation in various fields were signed between the two countries, including mining and critical minerals, investment, equity participation, military cooperation, defense industry, science, technology and innovation, as well as the protection of competition and prevention of monopolization, along with media and communication. Oman is the final stop on Erdogan’s three-nation Gulf tour this week, following Kuwait and Qatar.
