Almost all the buildings, mainly civilian houses, and infrastructure were destroyed in the relentless attacks. Palestinian families who have returned to the neighborhood, are setting up tents and working to create livable environment for their families under difficult conditions. The phased Gaza ceasefire agreement between Hamas and Israel, brokered through regional and international mediation, took effect Oct. 10. Phase one includes the release of Israeli hostages in exchange for Palestinian prisoners and a partial Israeli withdrawal. It also envisages rebuilding Gaza and establishing a new governing mechanism without Hamas. Since October 2023, the Israeli genocidal war has killed more than 68,500 victims and injured more than 170,300 others, according to the Gaza Health Ministry.
