Gibraleón, Spain - October 29, 2025 Video filmed by Alonso Perez Velo shows a brief but violent swirling funnel forming as a severe storm struck Andalusia on October 29, 2025. Huelva province was under a red alert for torrential rain, gale-force winds, and multiple suspected tornadoes or downbursts. The vortex appeared over the town in mid-morning as rain and fog reduced visibility. Roofs were ripped from homes, trees uprooted, and walls collapsed, leaving debris scattered across the streets. A football field in nearby Isla Cristina was damaged by a similar waterspout. Video footage showed chaotic scenes of flying objects and collapsing structures, while residents described a “deafening explosion-like noise.” Emergency services received more than 900 calls across the province for flooding, entrapments, and wind damage. Huelva and Seville faced the worst conditions, with streets turning into rivers and cars submerged. Record rainfall hit the region, with Almonte logging Spain’s highest daily total. A 53-year-old man was seriously injured when a terrace awning collapsed on him and remains in intensive care. No fatalities were reported, but authorities are investigating whether the violent event was a true tornado or a powerful downburst. Spain’s weather agency AEMET had warned earlier in the week of tornado risks in five provinces.
