South China's Guangdong Province has activated 970 volunteer stations to prepare for the upcoming National Games, China's largest national multi-sport event held every four years. The sport event featuring 34 competitive sports and 23 mass sports activities will be jointly hosted by Guangdong Province and the neighboring Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions from November 9 to 21. In the Guangdong competition zone, volunteer services were launched in June and 14,000 volunteer activities have already been hosted . Venue-specific drills and on-the-job practice sessions are in full swing to ensure comprehensive support service for the Games. A new "Hong Kong and Macao Contact Service" volunteer role has been introduced in the Guangdong zone, with over 200 volunteers assigned to handle coordination, communication and reception matters related to the Hong Kong and Macao sectors. The official nickname for volunteers in this edition of the Games is "Little Dolphins", symbolizing approachability, intelligence and friendliness. In the Hong Kong zone, a dedicated "Youth Volunteer" category has been set up, with the participation of more than 1,000 secondary school students. The Macao zone has also assembled a volunteer team comprising university students, members of community organizations, working professionals and retirees from various fields.
