Storyline: The ongoing 15th National Games of China has showcased the vigorous development of Qingyuan, one of the co-host cities of the sports extravaganza held across south China's Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, injecting fresh vitality into this riverside city. Qingyuan, a prefecture-level city in north Guangdong Province, hosted the wrestling events of this National Games from Nov. 10 to 13, with nearly 300 athletes from 34 teams across the country competing fiercely for 18 gold metals. The nation's premier wrestling event showcased not only the allure of competitive sports, but also the city's high-quality services and outstanding ecological environment, according to participants. "Upon arriving here, I was struck by the delicious cuisine. The Qingyuan chicken is particularly good. The hospitality and competition arrangements are outstanding. We can deeply feel Guangdong's warm enthusiasm," said Chen Ge, head coach of the Women's Freestyle Wrestling Team of Sichuan Province. Over the past few years, Qingyuan has been leveraging local resources to boost tourism and consumption by integrating them with sports events, culture and cuisine. The city has hosted a variety of sporting events, including marathons, rafting races, off-road races and paddleboarding competitions. Local authorities said that hosting the National Games has given the city a new opportunity to upgrade its infrastructure and promote tourism.
