Storyline: The United Nations World Food Program (WFP) on Tuesday called for opening of more crossings to deliver much needed aid into the Gaza Strip as the residents in the enclave are still short of basic supplies. Since the first phase of the Gaza ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas took effect on October 10, it has distributed food parcels to approximately one million people in the Gaza Strip, WFP said. However, due to limited supplies, each household can only receive one food parcel, sufficient for ten days only, it said. WFP emphasized that food supplies in the Gaza Strip remain far below targets, particularly in northern Gaza where delivery challenges are greater. Since the ceasefire went into force, WFP has transported approximately 20,000 tonnes of food aid into the Gaza Strip, which is less than half of its monthly target, it said. WFP called on all parties to open more crossings to ensure that humanitarian supplies can reach affected areas as quickly as possible. Shotlist: Beijing, China - Nov 5, 2025: 1.
