FAYOUM, EGYPT - NOV. 3, 2025: Egypt’s “Valley of the Whales” (Wadi Al-Hitan), located in the Fayoum region southwest of Cairo, offers visitors both a breathtaking natural landscape and a journey through millions of years of history.

Discovered by foreign archaeologists in 1903, the site was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2005 for containing the world’s best-preserved whale fossils.

More than 400 marine fossils have reportedly been found in the valley.

As an open-air museum featuring fossils millions of years old, the Valley of the Whales welcomes visitors with golden hills and erosion-sculpted rock formations.
