“Today’s date is January 15, 2016. We are currently at the Rahima crossing, which has been designated in the eastern countryside of Aleppo.At present, Civil Defense teams within the central sectors are on full alert and have mobilized all their personnel today in order to receive civilians who are expected to leave the areas of Menbij countryside and Maskanah. Our teams are also preparing ambulance and evacuation vehicles to transport them to nearby locations they wish to go to, or to the designated shelter centers. Given the high level of readiness of the Civil Defense teams, we have put in place an initial plan as well as a follow-up field plan, depending on developments on the ground, to ensure the safety of civilians and to provide them with emergency medical aid, transportation, and rescue services.”

ALEPPO, SYRIA - JAN. 15: Syrian Civil Defense teams are on full alert in the eastern countryside of Aleppo to facilitate the evacuation of civilians from areas held by the YPG/SDF terrorist organization, a senior official said Thursday, Jan. 15.

Faisal Muhammed Ali, Commander of Civil Defense at the Aleppo Directorate of Disasters and Emergencies, told Anadolu that his teams are stationed at the Humeima crossing near Deir Hafer to receive civilians expected to leave the Menbij countryside and Maskanah areas.

"We are preparing ambulance and evacuation vehicles to transport civilians to nearby locations they wish to go to, or to designated shelter centers," Ali said, adding that teams have developed field plans based on ground developments to ensure civilian safety.

Syrian army officials reported that the terrorist organization is forcibly preventing civilians from leaving at gunpoint.

The Syrian Army on Wednesday deployed additional reinforcements to eastern Aleppo amid rising tensions with the YPG/SDF, according to Syrian media.

The army's Operations Command announced that a humanitarian corridor will be opened via Hamimeh village along the M15 highway, urging civilians to stay away from all YPG/SDF positions.

Since last week, the SDF has shelled residential areas in Aleppo, killing 24 people, wounding nearly 130 others, and displacing about 165,000 residents from the Ashrafieh and Sheikh Maqsoud districts, according to official figures.

Syrian authorities said the SDF has failed to comply with agreements signed in March and April 2025 that required the integration of SDF forces into state institutions and their withdrawal to areas east of the Euphrates.

The Syrian government has intensified efforts to restore security nationwide since the ouster of the Bashar al-Assad regime in December 2024.
