Joe Lewis Pardoned by President Trump. UK billionaire Joe Lewis, owner of Tottenham Hotspur, has received a pardon from US President Donald Trump. Lewis, 88, pleaded guilty to insider trading in 2024 and avoided prison through a deal with prosecutors. He was accused of sharing sensitive company information with friends, assistants, pilots, and romantic partners. The pardon allows Lewis to travel to the US for medical treatment and to visit his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Lewis founded Tavistock Group, which has investments in property, sports, finance, energy, and life sciences. He was arrested in 2023, facing multiple counts of securities fraud and conspiracy for profiting from insider information. Lewis is best known for buying a controlling stake in Tottenham Hotspur in 2001, later transferring control to a family trust. In 2024, he was fined $5 million and sentenced to three years of probation after pleading guilty to conspiracy and two fraud counts.
