Global economic issues, geopolitical tensions, and energy security are expected to dominate the agenda.
The summit is expected to host leaders from member countries, the EU and the African Union, but no US official will attend, as President Donald Trump citing alleged “human rights abuses” against white Afrikaner population in South Africa.
Russia will be represented by Maxim Oreshkin, deputy chief of staff of the Presidential Executive Office, who will lead the country’s delegation amid strained ties with several G20 members over the ongoing war in Ukraine.
European leaders, including those from France, Germany, Italy, and the UK, along with EU officials, will attend the G20 summit in Johannesburg, which is expected to focus on global economic challenges, geopolitical tensions, and energy security.
Discussions are also expected on the 28-point plan proposed by US President Donald Trump to end the ongoing war in Ukraine, with close attention on the participation and reactions of European leaders.
