Hong Kong: Rescue efforts continue in Hong Kong residential area fire
Storyline: Rescue operations are underway following a huge fire at Wang Fuk Court, a residential area in Tai Po of Hong Kong, with firefighters, police, civil aid service and local residents joining efforts to assist those affected. The fire, which broke out Wednesday afternoon, had left 44 people dead and 45 others injured by early Thursday morning. Three men have been arrested for suspected manslaughter, according to the Hong Kong Police Force on Thursday. After the fire broke out, a large number of firefighters and police officers were dispatched to the fire scene for rescue. According to the Fire Services Department, by 20:00 Wednesday, a total of 128 fire engines and 57 ambulances had been deployed, with 767 firefighters engaged in the operation. The government departments of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) have been fully assisting residents affected by the fire, including arranging temporary shelters for displaced residents and providing assistance and mental support to the families of the deceased and injured. At the temporary shelters, many Hong Kong residents came voluntarily at night to join the relief work, helping those in need. "We came here to help transport supplies, including water, clothes, and quilts," said Ms. Ng, a volunteer. "We volunteered to be here, doing things like carrying water, transporting supplies, and distributing food to the fire-affected people. We just want to do our part, however small, to help them," said another volunteer Mr. Chieh. Shotlist: Hong Kong - Nov 27, 2025: 1. Various of fire engines in operation, buildings on fire 2.
