SOUNDBITE 1 (Chinese): CHAU WAIBON, Senior from Hong Kong
"I am happy. Everything is so good! There's a big garden here. Living in Guangzhou is more comfortable. I enjoy a variety of meals, including fish, meat, and vegetables, with good nutrition."
SOUNDBITE 2 (Chinese): JASON LIAO, Staff member of the elderly home
"We boast a favorable geographical location where the medical resources are relatively richer than Hong Kong, so seniors here can receive adequate health care. We are expecting a bright future."
This elderly home has been included in the Residential Care Services Scheme in Guangdong since November this year.
Launched by the Hong Kong SAR government, the scheme provides subsidies for Hong Kong elders to live in designated residential care homes in Guangdong.
Under the scheme, a total of 11 care homes in five cities of Guangdong now provide choices for Hong Kong seniors.
SOUNDBITE 3 (Chinese): LI SHUFEN, Resident at the elderly home
"We signed the contract today, and my sister and I are both very happy. Now we can save a monthly cost of a few thousand yuan compared to before. The elderly home also provides medical care, so we are very relieved."
Service providers from Hong Kong and Macao have also actively participated in the integrated development of the care sector in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
To date, there are 12 elderly care institutions run by service providers from Hong Kong and Macao across Guangdong Province.
SOUNDBITE 4 (Chinese): LUI HOI FU, Consolife Healthcare Limited
"The elderly care institutions provide seniors with comfortable spaces and environments. With sufficient human resources, they can take good care of the elders. I believe that more and more seniors from Hong Kong and Macao will choose to retire in mainland cities."
