Gathered in front of the parliament building in the capital Sarajevo, BHRT employees demanded that authorities fulfill their legal obligations and eliminate the threat of the station closing.
The workers stated that they are operating with old and dysfunctional technical equipment due to a lack of funding, which limits fieldwork, delays program projects, and causes qualified staff to leave. They warned that these conditions endanger their duty to inform the public.
While seeking support from citizens, employees stressed that they did not want support from politicians, holding them responsible for the public broadcaster's situation.
BHRT Director General Belmin Karamehmedovic stated that employees have only received promises and have been stalled for years.
Demonstrators set up a studio inside tents in front of the parliament building, where they broadcast a special live program titled "Do Not Close BHRT".
