A pigeon pair of adorable polar bear twins, born in east China's Shandong Province, celebrated their first 100 days on Tuesday in good health. The two cubs -- elder sister Sophia and younger brother Alek -- were born at the Quancheng Ocean and Polar World in Shandong's Dezhou City in August. Since birth, the two baby white bears have been hand-fed. They are currently in a critical period of transition from milk to complementary food, according to their keepers. "Their weight increases by 400 to 500 grams every day. These two little bears are still quite sensitive to the external environment and have not adapted well, so they are still being raised in our dedicated nursery. They will be ready to meet the public before the Spring Festival," said Li Guofeng, manager of Quancheng Polar Ocean World. The 2026 Spring Festival will fall on February 27, 2026, which will mark the beginning of the Year of the Horse. The polar bear, the largest land carnivore in the world, has been listed as "vulnerable" on the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List of Threatened Species.
