Farmers drove tractors through London in protest against a proposed increase in inheritance tax.

Footage shows a convoy of heavy machinery on the streets despite a last-minute police ban on November 26.

The demonstration by furious landowners came in response to planned changes in inheritance tax rules targeting agricultural assets worth more than one million GBP - reforms they say would dismantle family farms and erase generational heritage.

Despite a heavy police presence, dozens of tractors, draped in Union Jack flags and carrying protest slogans, brought traffic in Westminster to a standstill.

Eight arrests were made after protesters ignored police orders to disperse on Wednesday.

Agricultural property relief (APR) was introduced in 1984 and allowed small family farms to be exempt from inheritance tax.

But, from April 2026, that exemption will no longer stand for inherited agricultural assets worth more than a million pounds - forcing many small landowners to sell their land to large corporations and developers.
