Sparta, United States - December 02, 2025 A winter storm brought the first significant round of snow and ice to parts of the Midwest and South on Monday, with the system expected to deliver ice across Appalachia and heavy snow to the Northeast on Tuesday. The Kansas City area saw 3 to 5 inches of snow Monday, while St. Louis and Indianapolis each recorded 2 to 4 inches. Louisville saw about 3 inches. Ice also caused dangerous road conditions in Oklahoma and Arkansas, and similar impacts are expected Tuesday as the storm moves toward Boone, North Carolina, and Roanoke, Virginia. Along the immediate East Coast, temperatures are expected to remain above freezing, though a brief morning wintry mix around Washington, D.C., could create travel disruptions.
