Sudden hot pot explosion sprays soup onto diner's face in China
On November 30, in Yantai, Shandong, three men were cooking hot pot using a pot placed on a portable gas stove. While the man in the black short-sleeved shirt was increasing the heat, the pot containing the soup suddenly exploded, splashing soup directly into his face, causing the three to frantically flee from the table.
According to Mr. Ji, one of the people involved, it was an aluminium pot, not a cooking pot, and it was very thin. Due to thermal expansion and contraction, it suddenly exploded after being placed on the stove and having the heat turned up. Fortunately, the soup in the pot was not yet hot, so no one was injured, and neither the pot nor the gas were damaged.
