British designer creates 12-foot Christmas Tree crafted from 1,000 cookies
Credit: Debbie Wingham/Cover Images A British designer has created the world’s tallest Christmas tree — made entirely out of biscuits. Debbie Wingham, who’s famous for her extravagant and jaw-dropping creations, unveiled the masterpiece at a hotel in Marbella, Spain. Towering at an astonishing 12 feet and crafted from over 1,000 handmade cookies, the edible installation celebrates the launch of Wingham’s new gourmet brand, Crumbz Cookies. The structure weighs nearly 2,000 kilos — roughly the same as a family of polar bears — and was created using more than 200 bars of chocolate and around 1,000 kilos of flour. The colossal tree, which now dominates the prestigious La Fonda Heritage Hotel, is built on a reclaimed wooden structure with every cookie fixed in place using chocolate. It follows a long line of world records for Wingham, who has previously created the world’s most expensive Christmas tree, advent calendar, and a Dolce & Gabbana gingerbread house. Inside the hotel’s soaring mezzanine, guests are greeted by a cascade of gingerbread men, Christmas jumper cookies, mini trees, and stars. Traditional favourites such as Linzer cookies — stuffed with jam or chocolate — sit side by side with highly detailed designer pieces. Cinnamon sticks, candied fruit, oversized chocolate coins and nostalgic festive candies complete the decadent scene. Nestled among the decorations are signature treats from Crumbz, including the Sprinkle Pinatta, the OG, and the Mint Chocolate Fondant. At the foot of the structure, Wingham has added a charming village of designer gingerbread houses and wintery pinecone landscapes, turning the base of the installation into its own miniature Christmas world. And it’s not just a visual spectacle. Visitors are met with a warm, spicy blend of cinnamon, ginger and holiday aromas — a scent Wingham describes as “the smell of Christmas.” The gifts placed beneath the tree will be delivered on Christmas Eve to several children’s hospitals, bringing joy to young patients, including those facing terminal illnesses.
