A mother and son shared an emotional embrace after she asked to pick him up "for the last time"."

Kora Hartwell, 31, told her nine-year-old son, Clark LaQuire, that she wanted to lift him one last time - and he immediately welled up with emotion.

The heartfelt moment was inspired by a trend Kora had seen online, in which parents capture a "last pick-up" with their children. "

Knowing how gentle and caring Clark is, she wanted to try it for herself.

Setting up the camera, Kora invited Clark to film a video without explaining the context so his reaction would be genuine.

The result was a heartwarming scene as Clark clung to his mother, his emotions spilling over in an unforgettable hug.

Kora, from Claremont, New Hampshire, said: "When he put his head on my shoulder, I could feel his whole body soften and melt into me. "

"I was not expecting that at all. "

"In that instant, I knew he needed that hug just as much as I did."

Clark, the eldest of three, has two younger siblings aged two-and-a-half and eight months

and has grown used to taking on the role of big brother.

Kora said the trend reminded her how little he still really is and that even "big boys" need love and affection."
