Raymond, United States - December 01, 2025 A house fire on December 1, 2025, at 2085 108th St. in the Village of Raymond claimed the life of 38-year-old Jenna R. Zuehlke of Milwaukee, a mother of two, and killed the family dog. The Racine County Sheriff’s Office initially treated the case as a potential criminal matter and delayed public release to protect the investigation. The Sheriff’s Criminal Investigations Bureau, working with the Racine County Fire Task Force, investigated the fire and an autopsy was performed on Zuehlke. At this time, the incident does not appear criminal in nature. Around 2:50 p.m., deputies arrived to find smoke pouring from the residence. At the front door, they met a Raymond Fire chief officer and a Town of Norway police officer, who reported that two people were believed to still be inside. One deputy entered the attached garage and tried to go through an open interior door, but encountered heavy smoke from floor to ceiling and no visible flames. From inside, he could hear a child crying. The deputy then moved to the front entry, where the chief officer was attempting to push through the smoke toward the girl. After the chief officer was pulled back from the dangerous conditions, the deputy heard continued crying near the basement stairs. He re-entered the smoke-filled home, located the girl on the stairs, carried her outside, and handed her to the Norway officer. The deputy tried to go back inside to reach the other female but could not perform a rescue because of the dense smoke. Firefighters equipped with full protective gear and breathing apparatus later entered, found Zuehlke, and removed her from the residence. Rescue efforts were unsuccessful and she could not be resuscitated. Sheriff Schmaling stated, “These first responders displayed extraordinary courage under life-threatening conditions. Their actions absolutely saved a little girl’s life. Lastly, we extend our deepest condolences to the Zuehlke family.”
