A major gas leak forces thousands to evacuate from the Blackfriars area in central London.
A significant gas leak brought the Blackfriars area of central London to a standstill as emergency crews moved in and ordered the evacuation of thousands of people from offices shops restaurants and nearby streets. Police quickly established wide cordons as gas engineers arrived on scene and firefighters began checking buildings while directing the public away from the danger zone.
