After 11 months in hiding from the government in Venezuela, opposition leader Maria Corina Machado has fled the country. She flew to the city of Oslo to receive the Nobel Peace Prize. Machado did not make it in time for the ceremony, but greeted supporters outside of her hotel at about 2 am.

A few hundred Venezuelans gathered at the Grand Hotel in downtown Oslo for the opportunity to see Machado. She eventually came down from the hotel and embraced supporters in the streets. It remains unclear if she will try to return to Venezuela.
