This natural phenomenon occurs repeatedly during the winter months, as seasonal changes combine with air pollution.

Footage captured on Saturday, Dec. 13 shows fog covering the forests and city of Sarajevo.

Poor visibility and heavily polluted air have once again affected daily life in the city, with air quality levels frequently exceeding safe limits.

For years, air pollution combined with dense fog has remained one of Sarajevo’s most serious and unresolved environmental challenges, posing risks to public health and disrupting transportation.

The recurring scenes underline the capital’s long-standing struggle to address air pollution, particularly during winter, when weather conditions trap harmful particles over the city.
