The forecast calls for up to 11 inches of rain during the storm. A strong atmospheric river will bring heavy rainfall to California through the holiday week, according to a statement regarding the weather forecast on the National Weather Service website. The heaviest rainfall is expected on Wednesday in the Los Angeles Basin. Flash flooding is possible. Heavy snowfall is expected in the Sierra Nevada, raising concerns about significant snow load impacts. Travel may be difficult or impossible over the passes.
