US: Rain-Lashed Streets Swallow Vehicles During Severe Storm In San Fernando Valley
Los Angeles, United States - December 24, 2025 Video recorded on December 24, 2025, shows extreme rainfall and flash flooding overwhelming traffic at the intersection of San Fernando Road and Tuxford Street in the San Fernando Valley in Southern California. The footage was captured from inside a vehicle during the late morning, later shared the same day. The view through a windshield streaked with rain shows wipers moving rapidly as visibility drops under a gray, overcast sky. Deep standing water covers the roadway, reaching up to the doors or higher on several vehicles. Sedans, vans, and trucks struggle through the flooded intersection, pushing waves of water ahead of them, while some vehicles appear unable to move. Traffic lights are visible, including one showing red, alongside utility poles, a grassy embankment, and trees in the distance. The intense downpour creates loud thumping sounds as heavy rain pounds the vehicle, with water splashing and bouncing off the hood and windshield. Closer analysis confirms the impacts are caused entirely by torrential rain and floodwater, not hail. The sound and visuals mimic hail, but only liquid precipitation is present. The post accompanying the video states: "San Fernando and Tuxford. Vehicles submerged where the road dips. Have photos or video of flooding near you?" The scene unfolded during a powerful atmospheric river storm on Christmas Eve 2025. The system dropped 3 to more than 4 inches of rain in parts of the San Fernando Valley within hours, triggering flash flooding, road closures, mudflows, evacuations, fallen trees and power lines, and major traffic disruption.
