The Taiwan Coast Guard conducted 24-hour patrols amid rising tensions with China.

Footage shows personnel monitoring the seas to prevent Chinese Coast Guard vessels from entering Taiwan's waters, reportedly as part of Justice Mission 2025 operations around the island.

Local media reported that Taiwan's Presidential Office condemned China's latest military drills near the island, calling the movements a 'unilateral provocation' that threatens regional peace and stability.

The drills involved the Chinese army, navy, and air force.

Taiwan's Ministry of National Defence reported detecting at least 28 Chinese coast guard and naval vessels inside its response zone during the drills.

Taipei responded by placing the island on 'high alert' to guard against any potential incidents from Beijing.

Authorities said: 'We strongly condemn the PRC's irrational provocations and oppose the PLA's actions that undermine regional peace.

'Rapid Response Exercises are underway, with forces on high alert to defend the Republic of China and protect our people.'

Officials from the People's Liberation Army (PLA) said the exercises established a 'shield of justice' around five major ports.

Though it is officially known as the 'Republic of China,' Taiwan has been governed separately from mainland China, which is known as the 'People's Republic of China.'

Unlike China, Taiwan has elections and high levels of human rights that meet international standards. But Beijing sees Taiwan as a breakaway province and has, in recent years, stepped up pressure - both economic and military - to stake its territorial claims on the island.

Communist chiefs are also said to be drawn by the lucrative semiconductor industry in Taiwan, which provides vital components to the West, potentially giving the CCP power over America if they were to bring chip production under state control.
