Cabinet Office Pulls Andrew Files After Administrative Error. The Cabinet Office has withdrawn official documents referencing Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, blaming an administrative error for their brief release. The papers, dating from 2004 and 2005, were part of the government’s routine transfer of records to the National Archives under the 20-year rule. They were made available to journalists under embargo before being quickly pulled back. The documents included meeting notes discussing overseas travel by members of the royal family, including Andrew, who was serving at the time as a UK trade envoy. Those references were later redacted before the files were officially published. The Cabinet Office said the material was never intended for public release and stressed that all records undergo a detailed review process. However, anti-monarchy groups have criticised the move, arguing the public has a right to see the documents, particularly given Andrew’s past links to Jeffrey Epstein, which he has always denied involved any wrongdoing. Campaign group Republic says the monarchy remains overly secretive and called for full transparency.
