Storyline China boosts winter tourism with offerings beyond ice, snow [Voice_over] For Chinese tourists, the travel scene goes well beyond traditional ice and snow activities this winter, as regions across the country roll out exciting new ways to embrace the colder months. From Zhangzhou City on the eastern coast to Kaifeng City in central China, ancient-themed tourist areas and traditional performances attract throngs of tourists, offering immersive glimpses into China's rich historical tapestry. In east China's Shexian County, meanwhile, visitors can not only enjoy glowing fish-shaped lantern shows but also try their hand at crafting these intangible cultural heritage pieces. [Sound_bite] Wang Yufeng, staff member, culture, tourism and sports bureau, Shexian County: "Visitors can make their own fish-shaped lanterns at the workshop and participate in our live lantern parade in the evening." [Voice_over] Elsewhere, coffee-themed tours in southwest China’s Pu'er City, known as the nation's coffee capital, are percolating in popularity, with hands-on activities covering everything from cherry picking and bean processing to brewing. And for snow and ice enthusiasts, provinces including Jilin and Sichuan deliver classics like premier ski resorts and magical frozen landscapes, as well as pristine powder runs and breathtaking rime formations.
