The agency said the incident occurred in the Maghazi refugee camp.
Civil Defense officials reported that the bodies of 29-year-old Ibrahim Mohammed al-Shenne and his 8-year-old son, Mohammed, were recovered from the rubble. Five other people were injured in the collapse, with some reported to be in critical condition.
The agency said there may still be people trapped under the debris, as rescue efforts continued. It added that the building had sustained damage in earlier Israeli strikes and collapsed after renewed bombardment of the Maghazi camp on the day of the incident.
In a statement issued a day earlier, Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qassem alleged that Israel is systematically demolishing housing in parts of Gaza, describing the actions as “ethnic cleansing” carried out through widespread urban destruction. Israel has not commented on the specific allegation in the statement cited.
Since the ceasefire agreement came into effect on Oct. 10, the Israeli army has committed hundreds of violations, killing 420 Palestinians and wounding 1,184 others, according to the Health Ministry.
The ceasefire halted Israel’s two-year war that killed nearly 71,400 Palestinians, most of them women and children, injured more than 171,200 others, and left the enclave in ruins. But despite the ceasefire, Israel’s deadly attacks on Gaza continue.
