John Mulaney has postponed his Minneapolis, Minnesota shows in the wake of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement ICE raids and a shooting this week. The comedy star was set to play three stand-up gigs, one each on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, as part of his Mister Whatever Tour, in the city this weekend. However, Mulaney issued a statement via Instagram on Thursday in which he confirmed he would be rescheduling the shows to April as a result of the "heartbreaking" news. ”I hate to postpone shows in a town going through such awful challenges and such grief, because it feels unfair to the audience. Still, I don't feel comfortable asking thousands of people each night to leave their homes, gather at the venue, and then make their way home when the situation is so unsafe.” Mulaney went on to note that fans could request refunds for tickets. And to conclude, the Everybody's Live host apologised for the last-minute decision. ”I am sorry to anyone who is disappointed. I know a fun stand-up show could be a nice distraction, but it doesn't sit right with me to put anyone at risk,” Despite the freezing weather, hundreds of people gathered in front of a federal facility in Minneapolis on Thursday to protest against the ICE raids organised by U.S. President Donald Trump's administration as part of a crackdown on immigration and the shooting of Renee Good by an ICE agent. On Wednesday, the 37-year-old was shot and killed as she tried to drive away on a snowy street in the city. It's unclear from footage posted online whether Good interacted with the officer before the shooting. In a statement posted on his Truth Social platform, Trump argued that the ICE officer acted in self-defence. But Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey has rejected the argument, and at a press conference, called on ICE agents to leave the city immediately. ”We do not want you here. Your stated purpose for being in this city is to create some kind of safety, but you are doing exactly the opposite. We will pursue justice - and we will do so as quickly as possible."
