In a statement issued on Jan. 7, the Ministry of National Security said evidence of accelerants suggests the fires may have been deliberately set. Six firefighting aircraft have been deployed to support ground crews battling the blazes.
Local media reported that more than 2,000 hectares of land have been scorched so far.
