Daring skier sails down mountain peak before spectacular wipeout
This is the heart-stopping moment a professional skier carved flawless tracks down a pristine Alaskan mountainside before taking a dramatic tumble.
Friends and teammates Tonje Kvivik, 29, and Craig Davis Murray, 27, were working on a ski movie for Matchstick Productions in April 2025 in Haines, Alaska.
Footage filmed by Tonje shows Craig gliding effortlessly along a powdery ridge.
But despite the picture-perfect descent, the run ended with a jolt as Craig suddenly lost balance and somersaulted into a snowy wipeout.
Tonje, from Squamish, Canada, said: "It was such an amazing moment."
"As a skier, I was fascinated to see someone take on these mountains and as Craig's friend, it meant even more."
"Just a full-on emotional rollercoaster."
Haines is notorious not only for its breath-taking ski lines but also for its brutally challenging terrain.
Even Tonje, a professional skier herself, was nervous to take the plunge.
Tonje said: "I remember being so anxious."
"I'd been watching videos of people skiing these mountains since I was six!"
After completing her own drop first, Tonje managed to film Craig's descent from below.
She said: "He is such a skilled and daring skier and so like him to be jumping down the mountain."
According to Tonje, built-up snow created a hidden plateau near the bottom of the run, throwing Craig off balance as he landed.
She said: "He tumbled at the end, but was totally fine!"
"He brushed it off and we were back to skiing immediately."
