Memphis, United States - January 11, 2026 The Tennessee Highway Patrol released dashcam footage to address claims that a state trooper struck a protester during this weekend’s anti-ICE demonstration, calling the allegations “false.” The video shows a man stepping into the roadway as a trooper maneuvered through traffic and protesters. After briefly blocking the vehicle, he moved aside and returned to his car. Another incident involved Rebecca Ann Leathers, who stood in front of a patrol cruiser and struck its windows. Troopers said she did not cooperate during her arrest and became violent. She was charged with disorderly conduct, resisting official detention, and additional offenses. Tyler Foster, vice president of the Memphis Interfaith Coalition for Action, criticized the dashcam release. “It’s not surprising that they released a selected clip of what they claim transpired. The reality is that there is a lot more to the story. A lot more video footage, and we have been calling on them to release that video footage,” he said. The Tennessee Highway Patrol emphasized the importance of safety for all involved. “We respect and protect the right of people to protest peacefully. That right, however, does not include entering active roadways or placing themselves in danger,” the agency said.
