Lebanon - January 15, 2026 The Israel Defense Forces carried out airstrikes earlier today targeting weapons depots and infrastructure belonging to the Hezbollah in southern Lebanon and deeper inside the country. According to the military, multiple weapons storage facilities and additional militant infrastructure were struck in several areas of southern Lebanon. The sites were described as being used by Hezbollah to advance hostile activities directed against Israeli forces and the State of Israel. In a separate strike in central Lebanon, Israeli forces targeted an underground weapons storage facility used by the group. The IDF stated that extensive measures were taken prior to the strikes to reduce the risk of civilian harm, including the use of precision-guided munitions, advance warnings to local residents, aerial surveillance, and intelligence-based targeting. Israeli officials said Hezbollah’s activity at the targeted locations, including efforts to rebuild its capabilities, constitutes a violation of existing understandings between Israel and Lebanon and poses a threat to Israel’s security. The military said it will continue to act to neutralize threats against the country.
