Crew-11 returns to Earth after early ISS departure over medical issue. The NASA Crew-11 mission safely splashed down in the Pacific Ocean off San Diego early Thursday. The International Space Station crew returned aboard a SpaceX Dragon capsule at 12:41 a.m. PT, right on schedule. NASA decided to end the mission early “out of an abundance of caution” due to a medical situation involving one astronaut. Officials said the astronaut remained in stable condition and that no emergency evacuation was required. Crew-11 undocked from the ISS at 5:20 p.m. ET on Wednesday after completing return preparations. The four-member crew included two American astronauts, one Japanese astronaut and one Russian cosmonaut. The mission launched on Aug. 1 and had originally been scheduled to run until mid-to-late February. NASA did not disclose details about the medical issue, citing astronaut privacy, noting it was the first such case in 25 years.
