“And as you say, we were sitting there — I mean, there was nothing wrong — and we were outside the danger zone, the yellow danger zone. The yellow danger zone was about fifty meters to our east, roughly fifty meters. Then the shelling and helicopters came and entered the house. I didn’t know where to run.”

8. WHITE FLASH

9. (SOUNDBITE) (Arabic) RESIDENT OF AL-RAQAB NEIGHBORHOOD, ABU NIDAL AL-FAJM, SAYING:

“After it happened once or twice in the corridor, they sent us a leaflet telling us, ‘Please leave, go outside.’ So we left. After about fifteen minutes, they blew up the house. They completely destroyed the entire house.”

12. (SOUNDBITE) (Arabic) RESIDENT OF AL-RAQAB NEIGHBORHOOD, ABU NIDAL AL-FAJM, SAYING:

“The leaflet was dropped on us while we were actually in a safe place. They told us, ‘Leave, because you are in danger.’ But we were in the green (safe) zone, not in the yellow zone — yet we were still told to evacuate.”

17. (SOUNDBITE) (Arabic) RESIDENT OF AL-RAQAB NEIGHBORHOOD, ABU MUHAMMAD, SAYING:

“We are forced to stay, sitting in our tents. Suddenly aircraft come and strike the house — this one here — and there are children inside. There are between fifty and seventy families living here. Life is gone; the soul is gone. People are thrown just a few meters away, shattered and exhausted. There is no life left, no way to live. There’s no money — if you want to rent, you have to pay; if you want anything, you have to pay. Even if you had 500 shekels ($158.18) or 600 shekels ($189.81), where would you get more money? There is no money left.”

18. WHITE FLASH

19. (SOUNDBITE) (Arabic) RESIDENT OF AL-RAQAB NEIGHBORHOOD, ABU MUHAMMAD, SAYING:

“Suddenly, while we were sitting there, the aircraft came. We got up in panic from what we were doing and were told, ‘Leave it.’ This area is clearly marked green — a safe zone — and there are about sixty to seventy families living here.”

20. CLOSE-UP OF LEAFLET IN HEBREW, ARABIC AND ENGLISH READING:
“URGENT MESSAGE! THIS AREA IS UNDER IDF CONTROL. YOU MUST EVACUATE IMMEDIATELY.”

21. BOY STANDING NEAR DESTROYED HOUSES

22. TOP SHOT OF BOYS AND MEN STANDING
23. (SOUNDBITE) (Arabic) RESIDENT OF AL-RAQAB NEIGHBORHOOD, ABU ISMAIL, SAYING:

“They declared this area a military zone and harassed us for a period of time. We went out toward Salah al-Din Road, just like before. This is the third time they’ve done this to us. This time we moved to Salah al-Din Road; they finish their operations, then we come back, because they classify us as being in a green (safe) area, just as they themselves say. Beyond the road, no one fires at us, and no one crosses beyond the yellow line — the yellow blocks. There is no truth to the claims. No one is there; we are all gathered and staying west of the yellow line.”

24. WHITE FLASH

25. (SOUNDBITE) (Arabic) RESIDENT OF AL-RAQAB NEIGHBORHOOD, ABU ISMAIL, SAYING:

“Where are we supposed to be displaced to? Where is there left to go? Everyone is responsible for seven others — seven mouths to feed — so where can they go? Am I supposed to go to a ‘safe zone’? Is there even such a thing as a safe zone anymore? They talk about safe zones, but you move from one place to another, then back again, and we don’t even know what is happening. Where are people supposed to go? Every displacement is a burden; everything has a cost. Moving requires money, and people have nothing left — beyond what words can describe.”

31. GIRL WEARING PINK CLOTHES WALKING ON RUBBLE (TWO SHOTS) KHAN YOUNIS, GAZA STRIP, PALESTINE - JANUARY 19: The Israeli army expanded its control over areas east of Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip on Monday, ordering residents to evacuate in what local sources describe as a violation of the ceasefire agreement in effect since October 2025.

Residents of the Hayy al-Raqab neighborhood, northeast of the Bani Suheila roundabout, told Anadolu they woke up to leaflets dropped by Israeli helicopters demanding immediate evacuation.

"The area is under IDF control. You must evacuate immediately," the leaflets stated.

According to the ceasefire agreement, the affected area is located only tens of meters from zones the Israeli army continues to occupy east of the city. Dozens of families were forced to evacuate their homes following the warnings.

Abu Nidal al-Fajm, a neighborhood resident, said families were living in areas classified as safe near the "yellow line" – a boundary stipulated in the ceasefire agreement separating Israeli-controlled zones in the east from areas where Palestinians are permitted to move in the west.

"We were in the green (safe) zone, not in the yellow zone," al-Fajm said. "The yellow danger zone was about fifty meters to our east. Then the shelling and helicopters came. After they sent us a leaflet telling us to leave, they blew up the house about a quarter of an hour later."

Another resident, Abu Muhammad, since the ceasefire agreement came into effect, the Israeli army has worked to expand the scope of its control in this area, gradually advancing the yellow blocks little by little over time.

He also said said more than 60 families are now displaced due to the evacuation warnings.
Local sources report that Israel has expanded the so-called "yellow line area" under its control in various parts of Gaza on multiple occasions, moving the yellow concrete blocks placed as markers for the zone.

Another resident identified as Abu Ismail said: "This is the third time they've done this to us. They classify us as being in a green (safe) area."

“Where are we supposed to go? Every time you move, it’s a burden; everything has a cost. Moving requires a specific amount of money, and the people have nothing left—they are beyond the point of being able to describe it,” Ismail added.

According to official Palestinian data, Israel has committed hundreds of violations of the ceasefire agreement through shelling and gunfire directed at Palestinians, resulting in 465 deaths and 1,287 injuries.

The violations continue despite the U.S. administration's recent announcement of the start of the second phase of the agreement, which ended a war launched by Israel on Oct. 8, 2023.

The conflict has left more than 71,000 Palestinians dead and over 171,000 wounded, according to Palestinian health authorities. The majority of casualties are reportedly children and women. The United Nations estimates reconstruction costs at approximately $70 billion.
