Lebanon - January 21, 2026 The Israel Defense Forces have killed a soldier responsible for disrupting operations to control a weapons depot belonging to the Hezbollah organization The IDF attacked and eliminated terrorist Abu Ali Salameh, who served as a Hezbollah liaison officer in the village of Yanouh in southern Lebanon. As part of his role, the soldier managed Hezbollah's activities in the village of Yanouh, with the aim of enabling Hezbollah to operate in civilian areas and on private property in the village, and to embed terrorist infrastructures in the heart of the population while deliberately and cynically exploiting the residents to advance Hezbollah's soldier goals. On December 13, 2025, the IDF forwarded a request to the enforcement mechanism to enforce a Hezbollah weapons warehouse in the village of Yanouh in southern Lebanon. As part of his role as the village's liaison officer, soldier Salameh received the report from the Lebanese Army and forwarded it to other Hezbollah elements. Upon arrival Lebanese Army, Hezbollah soldiers prevented them from dismantling the infrastructure while creating a gathering that allowed Hezbollah to move the weapons from the property. At the end of the incident, the terrorist agreed with the Lebanese Army to document the property without the weapons, thus claiming that the compound was empty. During the Lebanese Army operation, several suspicious boxes were removed from the compound through the back door of the property. The actions of soldier Salameh constitute a violation of the understandings between Israel and Lebanon. The IDF will continue to act to remove any threat and protect the State of Israel
