UNCAPTIONED: Vance Softens Rhetoric as Scrutiny Grows Over ICE Operations
Vance Softens Rhetoric as Scrutiny Grows Over ICE Operations. Vice President JD Vance struck a noticeably calmer tone during a visit to Minneapolis, as concerns grow over aggressive immigration enforcement by ICE in Minnesota. Standing alongside ICE agents, Vance urged empathy for protesters and acknowledged that federal officers can make mistakes. He argued that much of the tension stems from confusion and a lack of cooperation between local authorities and the federal government. This marked Vance’s second public appearance since an ICE agent fatally shot Renee Good earlier this month. Unlike previous remarks, his message focused less on criticizing the media or protesters and more on public safety and de-escalation - According to Politico. Vance said viral videos showing ICE encounters can be troubling but often lack context, blaming far-left activists and local officials for fueling unrest. He stressed that the administration wants to enforce immigration laws while allowing residents to live their daily lives safely. The visit comes as Republicans face growing public unease over ICE tactics. A new poll shows nearly half of Americans believe the deportation campaign is too aggressive, including many Trump voters who support its goals but not its execution.
